Self Portrait Drawing Day

 

This is an opportunity to spend a day focusing on constructing a series of close up self portrait studies and drawings, using tone and colour in a variety of drawn media eg. charcoal, pastel and pencils. Areas covered will include the construction of the head eg. bone structure, analysis of features and facial expression, expressive mark making, seeing and translating colour and the use of expressive colour to render flesh tones. Melanie is happy to demonstrate to the group as a whole and to spend time with each participant on an individual basis, throughout the day. Emphasis is placed on each student's needs rather than a set method for all.

 

Materials will include colour pastels, conte sticks, colour drawing or aquelle (water soluble) pencils on white and mid tone paper. Students to provide their own materials. A list will be supplied on booking a place. Suitable for students of all levels of experience.

The number of places on this workshop are limited to 8 students to allow a high degree of individual tuition. A fabulous two course lunch and tea, coffee and cake are all included in the price.

All course bookings require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the cost of the course. The rest of the cost to be paid two weeks before the workshop. Some workshops are booked direct with the tutors and these are indicated.
